What make this image stands out, besides the color contrast and the close position of the characters, it is the meaning it has and how the lying "i" gives a funny visual meaning changing the color also. First, you see a bunch or letters together in the middle up part of the design, which is compensated with the empty red space of the bottom and the name of the author's phrase in the same side. Later you realized about the horizontal "i" and the when you read the sentence everything makes sense. It is a clever way to say don't matter if you are old because always will be better that being dead.
At first, it was a little difficult to read because of how close the characters are between each other, but that helps to stands the horizontal "i" out.

  1. This is a design by Herb Lubalin, the namesake of our team. The negative leading and tight kerning—as well as the illustrative "i" are characteristic of Luablin and made possible by the new technology of his time, Phototype.
